On May 7th, 2017 a large group of volunteers gathered at Alimos Beach in Athens, Greece to clean up trash from both the shore and the sea. Both divers and non-divers attended, making this clean up an overall group effort!

Among the volunteers were 24 divers from the dive store of Spiros Kartelias, 30 students from the local high school, and many students from previous Shark Awareness. The Mayor of Alimos, Mr. Andreas Kondylis, also attended the event and very was enthusiastic about the clean up.

A group of actors helped to keep the younger children engaged with a theatrical play.

The overall outcome of the day was 240 kgs of trash collected! In this clean up we found tires, plastics bags, aluminum cans and many glass bottles.

A big thank you to ALL of our volunteers and SharkAwareness course students who attended! Special thanks to the Course Director, Mr Michalis Kassidiaris, and Instructor Kostas Triantafullou for organizing the divers and participating in the Dive Against Debris clean up.
