It was with great joy that we accepted the invitation of the Selenia Cultural Association of Salamina, who, guided by the love for their place, asked us to organize a cleaning around the church of Agios Nikolaos. Garnier, as a major supporter of All For Blue, covered the needs of the mission under the scope of its mission for Green Beauty, also joining forces with the super market chain My Market.
The beach cleanup was conducted with the participation of Garnier executives and personnel of My market store in Salamina. The team was empowered by members of the Selenia Cultural Association. We were also honored by many young friends who got a taste of volunteering.
The All For Blue team was joined by 5 free divers who managed to remove 147 kg of sunk anchors and other metal objects in one breath. The shore volunteers collected 88 kg of trash which included the usual beach suspects (single-use plastics, nylon food packaging, plastic lids and straws, aluminum cans, cigarette packs, cigarette butts, etc.).
We extend our gratitude to the Hellenic Coast Guard for being present and taking care of the safety of our divers as well as the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities for their cooperation. We are renewing our appointment with the Selenia Association for next year!
