The first cleanup action of “All For Blue” in collaboration with Garnier company for this year, took place on the island of Syros and specifically on the hard-to-reach Lazareta beach.
A group of 25 active volunteers from Syros, together with their children, spent their Sunday morning collecting about half a ton of waste from the coast and the seabed.
As the location of Lazareta beach is northern, the concentration of waste and plastics is very high. However, with the help and contribution of the group’s volunteer, it was possible to collect the waste by sea.
The items collected were impressive. Among others, the team found jerry cans, windshield wipers, helmets, garbage bins along with a large amount of fishing gear.
The excellent organization of the Syros’ team and their love for the protection of their hometown brought the corresponding results. The beach and seabed were effectively cleaned and the island’s biodiversity was protected.
We would like to thank the Municipality of Syros for the immediate collection of the waste as well as the Coast Guard for their support, while conducting the action.
