Our Corfu team started the new year with an even stronger dedication to protecting their island’s coast. Our team leader and social media specialist Giovanni Prete cleaned the entire beach of Akoli on the ecosystem of Erimitis in five hours.
He removed five bags of plastic items, among others, two grills, an inflatable boat, five buoys and face masks.
The beach of Akoli is a protected ecosystem, housing rare birds and the endangered Mediterranean monk seal.
Giovanni wishes to preserve the beach’s natural beauty intact, and so with his cleanup he raised awareness to the local community that this important coastal ecosystem needs to be protected.
