Tinos island – 412kgs/908lbs of trash removed

More than 412 kilos of garbage was removed from the beach of Agios Fokas Agali in Tinos on Wednesday, April 17th 2019 during our beach & underwater cleanup.

Students from the 1st and 3rd Primary School of Tinos, from the Kindergarten of Steni Tinos, “Kalloni-Kelli”, the Don Blue Yachting team, which came with an motor boat from Mykonos and divers from the Tinos Nautical Club, participated in the cleanup of Agios Fokas, and removed about half a ton garbage, plastic cups, straws, irons, slippers, stools, nets, shoes, bottles, ropes, a pile and other items.

The cleaning sector of the Municipality of Tinos participated in the garbage collection.

The action was also accompanied by an ocean conservation seminar, which took place at the amphitheater of the EPAL & GEL Lyceum, where 300 students participated, the Tinos High School environmental team, the Don Blue Yachting team etc.

All participants received a diploma of attendance from the organization.

The enthusiasm of the students was impressive as they showed great interest in what they learned about plastics and how to avoid using them.

The program of actions of this “Keep Aegean Blue” initiative, undertaken by the South Aegean Region and implemented in cooperation with the “All For Blue” Organization, is the largest mission in Greece about the education of the young generation concerning the ocean conservation with beach & underwater cleanups.
