Mission in Oinousses

All For Blue, with the support of Garnier, sailed across the Aegean sea and traveled to Oinousses. On this small island with a rich history, we had the opportunity to organise an educational seminar for all the students of the island, along with a beach and underwater cleanup on the beach right in front of their school.

The mission began with a theoretical session before diving into action. A total of 83 students from all educational levels participated in the seminar. The children listened eagerly to information about the marine environment and the creatures living in it, while also learning in-depth about All For Blue’s mission. Once again, the students were fascinated by sharks and their importance to the marine ecosystem, impressing us with their thoughtful questions. At the end of the seminar, every student received a participation certificate and a reusable stainless-steel straw as a gift.

After the educational part, it was time for action. Students, volunteers, and teachers were transported to Zepaga Beach, where they gathered waste from the shore. The underwater cleanup was carried out by certified All For Blue divers. In total, 26 kg of waste were collected. Among the items retrieved were plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and, most unusually, a car speaker found at the bottom of the sea. The collected waste was later taken by the municipality, which ensured proper disposal.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Garnier for supporting this initiative. Our gratitude also goes to the municipality of Oinousses, along with representatives Mrs. Chalkia and Mr. Leontis, for their warm hospitality. We are also grateful to the Port Police for ensuring the safety of our divers. Finally, a big thank you to the students, teachers, and volunteers whose participation made this event a success.
