Cleanup at Mykonos

On the occasion of World Oceans Day, our local team in Mykonos organized a beach cleanup at Ftelia beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of the island. Beyond its natural beauty, the chosen spot has a special cultural value due to findings from the Neolithic period. As a result of its geographical position, Ftelia is affected by northerly winds, which bring a lot of marine debris to the coast. This situation is further aggravated by the high number of visitors during the summer period.

Mykonos’ volunteer team, led by Katerina Topouzoglou, removed 94kg of waste from the beach of Ftelia. Single-use plastics came first in the ranking again, including water bottles, plastic cups and bags. Among other things, the volunteers collected nets and fishing equipment, tubes, shoes and pillows.

We extend our warm thanks to the Port Authority of Mykonos for the participation of their representatives in the action as well as the municipality of Mykonos for the waste collection. Finally, a big thank you to all our volunteers for their support of All For Blue’s work
